Irma Thomas, Leo Nocentelli perform at Morial Convention Center
The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office will celebrate its 48th annual Sheriff's Thanksgiving Celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
As a part of the celebration, Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office (OPSO) employees and volunteers will serve more than 3,000 holiday meals to those who need it most across the New Orleans community including individuals in assisted living facilities, local shelters and more.
"The simple act of sharing a Thanksgiving meal together is another way to give back and to give members of our community a new hope," said Sheriff Susan Hutson.
The homemade Thanksgiving meals will include turkey, stuffing, yams, peas, rolls, and pies (sweet potato or pecan) for community members in need of a holiday meal.
As a Thanksgiving tradition, a performance by Grammy Award winning artist Irma Thomas and the OPSO Special Reserve band will take place in Hall I-2 of the Morial Convention Center. Also taking the stage at the convention center will be Leo Nocentelli, a founding member and lead guitarist of the funk band, The Meters.
