NBA Star Jrue Holiday and the Thurman Perry Foundation Visit the Orleans Justice Center to Support Women Residents

NEW ORLEANS –

Today, Jrue Holiday, NBA point guard with the Milwaukee Bucks and former New Orleans Pelican, visited the Orleans Justice Center with Ms. Gabriel Perry, Founder of the Thurman Perry Foundation to present donations of hygienic products to the women residents and tour the facility and observe some of the progress made under Sheriff Susan Hutson.

Through the Girl Code initiative, The Thurman Perry Foundation provides donations of organic, cotton, chlorine-free, dye-free, fragrance-free, and pesticide-free menstrual products monthly to the women housed inside of OJC.

Jrue Holiday and his wife, Lauren, contributed funds to make the 66,000th donation from the Girl Code initiative to the Orleans Justice Center.

"There's a bridge most people don't cross - those of us who live outside of jails don't often interact with those who live inside. We need to cross those bridges more often and do what we can to help meet the needs of persons in custody." - Jrue Holiday, NBA player (Milwaukee Bucks)

The Thurman Perry Foundation is a Louisiana-based nonprofit operating nationally dedicated to bettering the lives of women and girls impacted by incarceration. Their vision is to remove obstacles to success and ensure that every woman and girl receives a fair chance to thrive and succeed.

"Sheriff Hutson is ushering in a new era for Orleans Parish and embraces progressive ideas of how persons who are incarcerated should be treated. The Sheriff's vision directly aligns with our mission at the Thurman Perry Foundation." - Gabrielle A. Perry, Founder & Executive Director
