Travis Hill School At Orleans Justice Center Holds Virtual Graduation; Three Students Earn G.E.D.

NEW ORLEANS - 01-29-2021

The Travis Hill School at the Orleans Justice Center held a virtual graduation ceremony for three students who received their high school diploma as family and friends applauded their accomplishment via Zoom.

Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman, praised the graduates on their achievement. "In the midst of a pandemic, there are signs of hope. These three young men, who have overcome many obstacles, give us hope and show us that our future is bright. Each one is a positive asset to our community," he said.

The Sheriff also touted the strong partnership between the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office and the Orleans Parish School Board. A close collaboration between the two agencies makes it possible for incarcerated individuals to attain their G.E.D.

Other speakers at the virtual graduation ceremony were School Superintendent Henderson Lewis, Jr. and District 3 School Board Member Olin Parker.

More students are expected to earn their G.E.D. next month.
